Between June 3-6 2010, the sixth event in the “Connecting Europe through History” series took place in Leiden, at the Leiden University, a founding member of the EVROPAEVM. Graduate students from all over Europe shared their original research in small workshops and thought-provoking lectures were to engage with the EVROPAEVM Graduates and Leiden-based Historians about the topic of Migration in History Education in schools and how to teach it from a theoretical as well as a practical point of view. At the final session the students expressed their joy at having participated in the organised event that had been rich in content and very good for their personal development as young scholars. A full report of the event and the ideas shared will be included in the forthcoming project publication, expected in the fall of 2010. given by lecturers from the Universities of Oxford, Leiden and Geneva. The topic focused on migration and the political rhetoric across Europe’s capitals. A special Round Table was organised on the evening of the 4th of June, inviting History Education experts Dr. Elise Stork, History Teacher Trainer, Graduate School of Education (ICLON), Leiden University) and Dr. Stephan Klein, Researcher, Center for Historical Culture, Erasmus University Rotterdam / History Teacher Trainer, Graduate School of Education (ICLON), Leiden University.
A special Round Table was on the evening of 4th of June, inviting History Education experts, Curriculum Developers, Teacher Trainers and History Teachers to reflect with the EVROPAEVM Graduates and Leiden-based Historians about the topic of Migration in History Education in schools.
